Summer Fest Tickets
Shoreline Designs, Nantucket’s Life is good® retailer, is the only location on Nantucket selling tickets to the summer festival Life is good® at Fenway. Held on Saturday, July 7, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., this celebration of summer fun will benefit “children facing unfair challenges.”
The day features atheletic competition, live music, ballpark cuisine, special appearances by Red Sox legends, a wiffle ball homerun derby in Center Field, a Dunk-a-Yank dunk tank, dugout pictures, and the world’s biggest game of catch in the stands of Fenway Park. Participants will have the opportunity to test their skills in the pitching and batting cages in the Big Concourse. In addition, contests throughout the day will include peanut tossing, bubble-gum blowing, watermelon eating (and seed spitting).
Life is good®, a Boston-based company, is hoping for a grand slam in fundraising as they aim to raise more than $1 million to support The Red Sox Foundation and Project Joy, a grassroots non-profit organization that utilizes the healing power of play to foster the social and emotional development of Boston’s poorest children.
Shoreline Designs, Nantucket’s independently owned Life is good® retailer finds the happy little stick figure macot, Jake, and the upbeat motto contagious. “You can’t help but be happy when you leave the store because of the message...we hear people say it a hundred times a day...Life is good!”
Owner Joyce Kramer started carrying the line at Shoreline Designs about four years ago in her shop farther down on Straight Wharf. Now that she’s moved to a new, larger location at 2 Straight Wharf, she has continued to expand the high-quality line. “I like the message, I like the company, I like the charity work they do,” Kramer explained, then she chuckled and added “I am the purveyor of optimism on Nantucket.”
In addition to the Life is good® line, Kramer also carries WEK clothing, popular for its luxurious fleece lining, and shoes for men and women.
The tickets to Life is good® at Fenway that are available at Shoreline Designs are $20 for adults and $10 for children. Kramer hopes to attend to support the cause: “I’m gonna try my best -- if I can’t go for the whole day, I want to at least go for half the day.”
