Troubadour Returns
Legendary troubadour and island favorite Bill Schustik will entertain audiences with traditional eighteenth and nineteenth-century music on Saturday, June 9, at 7:30 P.M in the Whaling Museum, 13 Broad Street. A reception to meet the artist will follow.
Just back from a Midwest concert tour that covered eleven states and included twenty-eight performances, Schustik is delighted to be “coming home – Nantucket is the center of my soul.” “His love of Nantucket shows through in so much of what he sings,” said Doris Fellerman, Schustik’s publicist. “He’s written numerous songs about the island, and his most recent CD features “Tales of Nantucket,” and chanties about the tall ship Shenandoah. The tools of his trade include his magnificent baritone voice, a keen sense of drama, a colorful array of folk instruments, and a deep abiding love for traditional American folklore.”
Schustik’s June 9th concert will feature a selection of classic sea chanteys – songs rich in American traditions and history – where he will also play a wide array of folk instruments such as the guitar, banjo, harmonica, concertina, and dulcimer. Song and story come together during his captivating performances.
The Saturday evening concert, which will include a wine and cheese reception, is $5 for NHA members, $10 for nonmembers. Call 508-228-1894, xt. 0 for details.
