One of the new shops on Old South Wharf is no newcomer to Nantucket. After exhibiting on-island for the past four years, and developing a loyal and rapidly growing clientele here, Alastair Crawford, LLC now has their own location at 3 Old South Wharf.

Alastair Crawford, LLC, specializes in vintage items that were all originally handmade in Copenhagen, Denmark, where the Georg Jensen Company is based, by master craftsmen to exacting and uncompromising standards. It is the most widely collected silverware in the world. In addition to dealing in vintage Georg Jensen silver and jewelry, Alastair Crawford, LLC is the largest importer for new silver holloware and flatware purchased wholesale from The Georg Jensen Company, Denmark.
Alastair Crawford has been dealing in silver since 1979 and has traded in his native London, Canada, Hong Kong, the United States, and Australia. He has advised high-end retail silver stores both in the UK and in the US, and has considerable experience with silverware manufacturers, including numerous commissions on new silver from private and corporate clients. He is the co-founder of the Silver Fund in London, which within four years established itself as the largest dealer in Georg Jensen silver. In 2004, he left the Silver Fund to actively pursue his interest in Georg Jensen on his own. Crawford now resides with his wife and children in New York City. “It sometimes seems strange for a Brit to be dealing in a Danish product in the U.S.,” says Crawford, “but it is the finest silver in the world and the greatest country in which to live.”
Among the items for sale at the Nantucket store include a substantial single collection of Georg Jensen holloware that has recently been acquired and includes graceful “Pregnant Duck,” “Goose Jug,” and “African Lady” pitchers, a variety of candelabras, gorgeous Henning Koppel bowls, and many other stunning pieces. In addition, this Nantucket store offers a large range of sterling flatware in patterns that are both in and out of production and an assortment of fine Georg Jensen jewelry, including rare gold pieces. Styles encompass Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and the outrageous designs from the 1960s. “There is something for everyone,” says Crawford.
