Naming Contest Continues to Labor Day
There’s still time (but not much!) to name the newest resident of the Maria Mitchell Aquarium! The creature's special features are: beak, eight legs, and the ability to change color at will! This exciting, native Common Octopus (Octopus vulgaris) is in need of an equally dazzling name.
Want some naming inspiration? Previous winning titles include “Del Mar” (a seahorse), “Clawdette” (a blue lobster), “Pistol Pete” (a trigger fish), and “King Neptune” (a 17-pound lobster).
To submit your idea into this year's contest, stop by the Maria Mitchell Aquarium at 28 Washington Street before September 1st, meet the octopus, and fill out the entry form. The winner will be announced on Labor Day (the last day that the Aquarium is open for the season) and awarded a prize.
The Maria Mitchell Aquarium is open Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm. Admission is $6 for adults and $5 for children; MMA members are admitted free.
