Musical Offers Family Fun
HONK!, Jr. is the classic Hans Christian Anderson tale of The Ugly Duckling transformed into a moving, funny and highly entertaining musical. “Written by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, HONK! tells the story of Ugly, whose odd, gawky looks instantly incite prejudice from his family and neighbors. Separated from the farm and pursued by a hungry Cat, Ugly must find his way, while his loving mother, Ida, searches for him. Along his journey he not only discovers his true beauty and glorious destiny, but he also finds love and acceptance.”
The Nantucket Dreamland Foundations Encore! summer program is pleased to present this special production of HONK! Jr. The Ugly Duckling Musical. More than 44 children ages 5-15 from both the year-round and summer resident community have joined together since July 6 to create this heartwarming coming of age tale.
Four more shows are scheduled: at 11 am on Tuesday, August 17; and at 5 pm on Friday, August 13, Wednesday, August 18, and Friday, August 20. Performances will be held under the Dreamland tent at 17 South Water Street. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for children/seniors and can be purchased at the office at 12 Oak Street, Shop A, directly across the street from the tent or by calling the Dreamland Foundation at 508-332-4822.
