An Evening of Music and Devotion
On Thursday, June 23, Spiritual Heritage Nantucket is pleased to host an evening of music, thoughtfulness, and devotion in their 6th annual community event. This year’s featured guests are Alistair Begg and Fernando Ortega. Begg is a well-known author and senior pastor of Parkside Church in suburban Cleveland. His teachings can be heard daily on the nationally syndicated radio program, “Truth for Life.” Begg has written a number of books including The Hand of God, Pathway to Freedom, On Being a Pastor and a revision of Spurgeon’s devotional, Morning and Evening. He has been married to Susan for 35 years and they are the parents of three adult children.


Alistair Begg & Fernando Ortega
Fernando Ortega is a classically trained musician steeped in the Hispanic tradition of his New Mexico homeland. He is a gospel singer and songwriter. Orgeta was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico near the banks of the Rio Grande. He started piano at eight years of age. His family lived in Chimayo NM for eight generations, which has been cited as an influence on this music. It is from his heritage and classical training at the University of New Mexico where Ortega derives his unique sound, embracing country, classical, Celtic, Latin American, world, modern folk and rustic hymnody. Fernando and his wife Margie have a daughter Ruby Aveline.
The evening concert and program will take place on Thursday June 23rd at the First Congregational Church, 62 Centre Street, at 7:30pm. The event is open to the public and free of charge. Spiritual Heritage Nantucket is a non-denominational group whose mission is to build and encourage the Christian community on Nantucket.
