Elegant Style, Unique Designs
There’s a shop on the island that’s chock full of stunning home accessories that you’ll find nowhere else! For a truly distinctive look, head to Freedman’s of Nantucket.
Located in a corner shop near the Main Street end of Centre Street, this spacious shop offers sophisticated furnishings, unique decorative accents, and clocks galore.

Don Freedman has an ever-changing selection. “Many people return year-after-year, some every year for the past 30, and say ‘Hi Don, what do you have that’s new?’” Don always has an answer!
This month, it’s his Grenada Collection, a rich and tasteful design that Don describes as “a perfect match for a country gentleman’s library.” Lovingly made from teak and cowhide, the collection is an appealing combination of style and function. There’s a Bar that has compartments and storage for all your beverage needs and is on wheels for easy positioning at a party; a Cocktail Table with drop-down sides and drawers; a Parson’s Table and matching Captain’s Chair; a large Floor Mirror with stand. Smaller pieces in the Grenada Collection include a Magazine Holder, Umbrella Stand, Men’s Desk Organizer, and a lockable Jewelry Box with 7 drawers.

For a playful touch, Freedman’s has an assortment of whimsical animals that make terrific accent pieces. Large and small roosers and elephants with their trunks raised for luck come in lovely beach colors and in bold red, white, and blue. Every item in Freedman’s has a story, and this one is touching... One day during his most recent trip to Nepal, Don was sketching when a local woman passing by stopped to speak to him. “I see you draw and design—you must help me!” She told him that she works with a co-op of handicapped craftspeople, and that is how these handmade animals came to be in his shop on Nantucket.
Don continues to meet his goal of creating product designs and ideas that you won’t see anywhere else. He’s happy to ship any item, small or large.
Freedman’s of Nantucket is open days and evenings at 14 Centre Street.
