The 17th century house at 105 Main Street known as the Starbuck-Kilvert House, is one of the island's oldest surviving homes with period interior features. This home will be a Show House for island and off-island designers from July 25 through August 10. Each room of the house is designed with the objective of preserving the historic and architectural integrity of the house, while demonstrating how the house can be made comfortable and meet the needs of a 21st century family. THE TOY BOAT, the island's oldest specialty toy store, represents handmade and unusual items including those designed and made on the island. Locally made toys include bears, dolls, a mermaid who lives in her own shell, creative art kits, games and puzzles. The "Harbor Series" is a group of boats, lighthouses, and other harbor-related items designed to be used independently or collectively to replicate a harbor. Highlighting the series is the world famous "Rainbow Fleet." Other specialty items include handblown glass marbles, matryoshka dolls, tin wind-ups, and other collectibles. Their carefully selected books emphasize local subject matter, a wide variety of which are autographed by local, national, and international authors and illustrators.
