presented by Theatre Workshop of Nantucket in the upstairs performance space of the Methodist Church, 2 Centre St. "Doubt" is set at a Catholic school in the Bronx in 1964. The action centers on a nun who grows suspicious when a priest begins taking what she considers too much interest in the life of a young African American student. Directed by Michael J. Feeney the play features Ciaran Byrne, Pam Murphy, Callie Kever, and Tina Hoskins. In 2004 "Doubt" won 4 Tony Awards; it also won the Pulitzer Prize for 2004/2005. Holly Near Benefit Concert
Legendary activist, singer, and recording artist will perform in concert at the Nantucket Unitarian Church, 11 Orange Street. Appearing with Near will be Emma's Revolution, an award-winning, grassroots activist duo of musicians Pat Humphries and Sandy Opatow. The performance is a fundraiser for the South Church Preservation Fund, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, restoring, and maintaining the historic South Church structure, which celebrates its 200th anniversary in 2009. Tickets are $25 general admission (students free) and may be purchased at Mitchell's Book Corner on Main St. and at Bookworks on Broad St.

This the first in a three part series that explores the revolutionary power of music. June 2 is 'Amandla: A Revolution in Four Part Harmony,' a film that chronicles the importance of protest music during South Africa's period of Apartheid from the 1950s to 1990. And, June 9 is 'The US vs. John Lennon' which looks at the former Beatles' rise to fame, his move to New York City in the 1970s and President Richard Nixon's attempts to have him declared a threat to national security and deport him.
